Handmade tote bag made by the women from the non-profit organisation 'Chhori'.
Chhori is an NGO based in Kathmadu, Nepal. I went to visit them when I was last out there, and since then we have started working together. The organisation is led by women only, and Chhori means “daughter” in Nepalise. Chhoris handicraft is one of the projects, developed to teach and enhance the vocational skills for girls and women who are exploited or at risk of exploitation. In addition to the psychosocial support and a caring environment, it gives the girls the possibility to work for a fair salary.
The aim of this project is to give them economic independence instead of exploitation, and an understanding of working for a fair salary and safe working conditions.
These bags are made from 100% cotton.
